Call for Images of the Hawthorne Bridge:Thank you for your interest in supporting Portland's bridge centennial celebrations. The Friends of the Willamette River Bridges and Witham & Dickey Printing are working to create a 2010 four-color wall calendar to be published in late spring/early summer 2009. The calendar will feature 12 images of the Hawthorne Bridge, turning 100 years old on 12/19/10. Submission Guidelines…The Friends seeks 12 images from 12 different artists of all ages working in all media and disciplines that depict the Hawthorne Bridge, past, present, or future. Each image, at full size, fills space 9.625x12.25 inches. Submissions should be 300 dpi, or at least 3675x2888 pixels. Include a short bio; contact information, with phone number; and indicate whether the work depicts Hawthorne's Past, Present, or Future. An artist may submit up to three images. All submissions will be judged and selected by an independent committee. Net proceeds from calendar sales go to the celebration of the Hawthorne Bridge's 100th birthday in 2010. Artists whose works appear in the calendar will receive an honorarium (between $50-$100), plus ten calendars each. Send attention to Sharon Wood Wortman at submissions@portlandbridgecentennial.org, subject line: Hawthorne 2010. We are also hoping to have an exhibit of the art work from the calendar as part of the Hawthorne Bridge Birthday Celebration, as well as an event where the images would be auctioned (artist willing), with half the proceeds of the sale going to the artist and half to the celebration. Deadline for submissions is: 3/1/09. |
